FAQ

A. Yes, I can. We guarantee the quality listed in our catalog, so if there is a quality problem, you can return the product. However, it is necessary to comply with the correct usage instructions listed in the catalog. Furthermore, we are not responsible for any compensation related to them.
A. At the time of delivery, we use MagTran special trays for packaging. Normally, there is no need to take measures against spatial magnetic flux (magnetic leakage). Please note that Magtran is a magnetic product and will attract surrounding iron. Also, if there is a product nearby that is affected by magnetism, please install it at least 50mm away.
A. Please select the FB type when using the product underwater or in an environment where it may be exposed to water. In fact, it is often used in the transport mechanism of large glass substrate cleaning equipment. However, since this is a magnetic product, please be careful as any scratches on the surface of the product will cause rust. Furthermore, when using the product in a chemical environment, the user should conduct a thorough evaluation before deciding whether to use the product. Please select the FD type when using in a vacuum. This is also a magnetic product, so if the surface of the product is scratched, it will rust, so please be careful. The amount of gas released from the magnet is the same as general stainless steel or aluminum materials. Can be used up to high vacuum 10-5Pa level.
A.It is necessary to match the magnetization lines of the drive side and driven side magnets. However, there is no problem with angle adjustment and deviation of 2 to 3 degrees. (Theoretically, please consider that the transmitted torque will decrease slightly.) Although it is usually invisible, the “magnetization line” is inclined at 45 degrees in the axial direction for the cross type, and is parallel to the axis for the parallel type.
A.The FD type vacuum and heat-resistant magtran holder types use an O-ring inside. Since the FD type is a sintered product, there is a risk of damage if a load is applied to it. The method of fixing the FD type magnet ring to the holder uses the friction of the O-ring to fix the Magtran to the holder. Also, by using this O-ring, it also serves to prevent the rotation of the Magtran from becoming eccentric. The FD type is for ambient temperature use, and the FB, FDS, and FBS types are for ambient ambient temperature use only, so O-rings are not used.
A.In-house evaluation has confirmed that it follows up to 4,000 rpm without any problems (no load condition). Since it is characterized by “non-contact” transmission, it is basically not suitable for high-speed rotation. There are considerable differences depending on the model, but in any case, usage that creates strong “inertia” such as sudden starts and stops must be avoided. We also request that the control system “slow up and slow down.” This also has the advantage of acting as a “torque limiter” when some kind of trouble occurs. Note that the FD26 and FD35 types also track at fairly high speeds, but they have not been converted into data at this time.
A.Magtran transmits drive contactlessly using magnetic force. The larger the load, the greater the “slip” between when the drive side starts moving and when the driven side starts moving. This amount of “misalignment” varies depending on the load, so it is different from the “backlash” found in general gears.
A.There have been no cases of heat generation within the range of rotational speed that can be tracked.
A.An ideal “magnetic loop” is formed with the closest pole. For this reason, there is little magnetic leakage to the outside and extremely strong magnetic force is obtained. If there is something nearby that is affected by magnetism, please use it at least 50mm away.
A. The magnetic strength of the magnet itself cannot be changed. The torque in the catalog is adjusted by the “gap” between the magtrans. The torque becomes stronger when the distance is narrowed, and becomes weaker when the distance is widened. It is important to obtain as constant torque as possible, and any variation is not desirable.
A.The surface treatment of the FD type is Ni-Cu-Ni three-layer plating. The surface treatment for the FB type is electrodeposition coating. This is an excellent treatment that prevents surface oxidation, so it cannot be changed by the user. Since this product is a magnet, surface treatment cannot be performed after magnetization. Also, regarding surface treatment before magnetization, there are restrictions on dimensions and surface conditions, so please contact us for details.
A. Yes, basically it is possible. However, there are some limitations. ・Maximum outer diameter: FD type approx. φ50mm, FB type approx. φ80mm ・Minimum outer diameter: FD type φ16mm, FB type φ8mm (current size is the smallest) ・Wall thickness: Approximately 2 to 5 mm – New molds and magnetizing equipment are required. It is extremely effective if you can expect a quantity effect after considering the initial cost.
A. For example, data on the FD22 type indicates that transmission is possible up to a gap of 3mm. Although the torque is extremely weak, “weak transmission torque” may be required depending on the application. The maximum gap varies depending on the Magtran model, so please contact us for details. There are also examples of the FD35 type being used with a gap of up to 5mm.
A. Since it is a permanent magnet, it is semi-permanent if the “use conditions” are met. According to theoretical calculations, the level of demagnetization is extremely small, for example, a few percent demagnetized over several decades.
A.Magtran has operating temperature restrictions. If you use it above the “limit temperature” specified in the specifications, it will “demagnetize” according to “certain rules”. A graphic representation of this change in retained magnetic flux is called a “demagnetization curve.” “Pc=1.0” and “Pc=2.0” are called “permeance coefficient = operating point”. Generally speaking, it is important when used in motors, etc., but in applications such as Magtran, the scale of “Pc = 2.0” is usually used.
A. Magtran is a powerful magnet, so it is extremely dangerous to bring the magnet close to a person with an implanted medical device such as a pacemaker or ICD, as it may seriously affect the performance of the device and the human body. Please handle with care. Regarding the effect of magnets on pacemakers, please contact the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare or the Japan Arrhythmia Device Industry Association.
A. Yes, there are several. Please click here to view the notes included with the product when it is shipped, so please refer to it immediately after receiving the product.
A.We actively provide technical advice to our users at the design stage. However, the current situation is that it is difficult to understand details such as the customer’s usage conditions. Companies considering adoption should conduct sufficient research and consideration, and in particular, please design with a margin for torque. Based on our track record of employment to date, we will proactively provide advice if requested, so please feel free to contact us.
A.No additional work can be done on Magtran. We are not responsible for any abnormalities caused by additional machining, so please use the product according to the usage instructions listed in the catalog. Magtran is made through a special composite process. This manufacturing process requires know-how, and no other company can achieve this performance.
A.Yes, I can. The cross type of “Magtran” is basically magnetized in the “right-handed twisting direction”. Several models of “left-handed twist” products, in which the direction of rotation is reversed, have already been commercialized. “L” is added to the end of the model number.
A.In principle, this is not possible. As each company incorporates “combined know-how” into this area as a new method, non-disclosure agreements may be signed. However, it has already become widely established as a dust prevention measure when transporting large and small glass such as printed circuit boards, solar cells, LCDs, and organic EL. Furthermore, the number of applications for medical equipment, food manufacturing lines, etc. is increasing year by year.
A. Magtran itself does not infringe on the patents of other companies’ similar products. However, please keep in mind that various “application patents” may be filed outside of our control, depending on how the product is installed on equipment or how it is used. What about patents for embedded products (applications)? We plan to actively create applications in the future. We are already in the process of developing several products. We also sometimes develop products jointly with other companies using Magtran. Users use our products in a variety of ways, so it is likely that they will apply for “applied patents” that we are not aware of. Although we welcome application patents, we ask that you consider other patent projects.
